Harmony Panameno

Screenshot (75)Harmony Panameno is a first-generationthird-year Psychology & Human Development student at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB). Harmony joined Dr. Kelly’s Child Language Interactions and Memory (CLIaM) Lab in the Fall 2023 semester through the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP). She joined the lab as a Research Assistant to gain research experience in psychology-related fields and to help prepare her for graduate school.The following year, Harmony became a Lab Coordinator helping guide newer lab members through tasks and taking lead on projects.She aims to earn a PhD in Clinical Neuropsychology as it targets her interests in behavioral neuroscience research pertaining to the biological mechanisms behind addiction, substance use disorders and eating disorders during adolescence.In pursuit of this goal, Harmony has presented at several research conferences including the Society of Research in Child Development (SRCD), the National Conference of Undergraduate Research (NCUR), the UROP Symposium twice, and has contributed to work that was presented at the Western Psychological Association (WPA) and the American Educational Research Association (AERA) conferencesLast Spring, she also co-authored a research proposal that won 2nd place overall and 1st among undergraduates in CSULB’s Student Research Competition (SRC). Just recently, Harmony was accepted into the TRiO McNair Pre-Doctoral Scholars program 2026 cohort. This acceptance has already contributed to her advancement toward graduate school and has served as a guiding support during academic endeavors and search for graduate school programs.In the future, Harmony hopes to open her own private practice administering individualized care to adolescents as well as developing early intervention and preventative strategies to help stop these disorders from progressing into adulthood. During Harmony’s free time, she enjoys quality time with friends and family, road trips with lots of music, and going to the beach!
