Madison Gillilan is a third-year, first-generation Psychology major and Human Development minor at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB). She has worked with both children and young adults, inside and outside of the classroom setting, as a Long Beach BLAST (Better Learning for All Students Today) student mentor and Pasadena City College (PCC) Pathways FYE (First Year Experience) Orientation Counselor. Madison has been involved in the field of Psychology from a young age; starting out on her childhood school district’s (TCUSD) Mental Health Committee and eventually assuming the Vice President position of PCC’s Active Minds chapter. In Spring 2026, Madison joined Dr. Kimberly Kelly’s Child Language Interactions and Memory (CLIaM) Lab to further her knowledge and experience in social and behavioral research. The CLIaM Lab immediately sparked Madison’s interest in how technology use and parent-child interactions play an integral role in children’s informal learning experiences. She is currently working towards her CSULB University Honors Program distinction in the form of her honors thesis. During the Fall 2025 semester, she was awarded the President’s Honors distinction and membership into Psi Chi (The International Honor Society in Psychology). Madison presently serves her campus community as a Psychology Resource Office (PRO) Guide. In the office, Madison acts as both a point of contact and support for all Psychology majors interested in exploring and refining their academic, career, and personal goals. Madison also serves as a librarian and archivist for PRO, ensuring that all present resources and materials featured within the office, and other shared campus spaces, are relevant, accessible, and helpful towards Psychology major success. Madison is a lifelong learner at heart and wishes to pursue graduate studies and a career in School Psychology so that she may create a supportive environment for children’s development and play a role in enhancing students’ personal and academic success. In her free time, Madison enjoys thrifting, adding to her extensive vinyl record collection, going to the movie theatre, journaling, and spending time with her loved ones.
