Thaijenai Perry

Thaijenai Perry is a first-year, first‑generation Public Health major at California State University, Long Beach. She joined Dr. Kelly’s Child Language Interactions and Memory (CLIaM) Lab in Fall 2025 after learning about the opportunity through the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP) During her time with the CLIaM Lab in fall 0. She sought involvement in the lab to gain foundational research experience such as understanding and processing data.  Moreover, to deepen her understanding of how children process information in informal learning environments to be able to use this in her future career path in developing programs so the younger generationcan learn more about morbidity and overall health.  Thaijenai aspires to become an Epidemiologist and Public Health Advocate and is committed to helping bridge the longstanding gap between the Black community and the healthcare systemmission shaped by her own experiences with limited access to quality care and the similar challenges faced by many of her Black family members and friends. She wants to do this by fostering more opportunities to learn about healthcare in predominantly Black communities, specifically about preventing diseases that are commonly found in the community. As well as speaking to the public about the inequalities in healthcare that they may not be seeing and developing programs to make this lesprevalent or non-existent.   In her free time, she enjoys spending time near the beach with friends and her cat, listening to music, and exploring new places to eat.
